1. Greentech Media

As the company notes on its website, Greentech Media “delivers market analysis, business-to-business news, and conferences that inform and connect players in the global clean energy market.” Subject categories include solar projects, utility-scale solar, PV modules, markets and policy, solar finance and VC, manufacturing, residential solar, and more. Greentech Media posts several articles each week.

2. Scientific American

Scientific American is a well-known U.S. magazine that has “been bringing its reader’s unique insights about developments in science and technology for more than 170 years.” Scientific American’s online presence has a sustainability category as well as a tech category, both of which include authoritative solar energy news articles on solar energy.

3. Solar Energy Industries Association

The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) is a key player in the renewable energy world and an industry mainstay for solar information. It’s also a dependable source of solar news. SEIA is the national trade association for solar energy in the U.S. and represents all organizations that promote, manufacture, install, and support the development of solar energy. Because it’s a trade organization, SEIA has a pro-solar bias; however, the credibility of the solar news it provides is still top-notch. Check out SEIA’s news category here.

4. SolarWakeup

SolarWakeup isn’t a single news source but rather an aggregator of national and global solar news. The site promises readers “will find real news stories directly from the source and be able to bypass the press releases”; if you’re looking to avoid press releases and want only solar energy news articles, this is a good site to sift through. SolarWakeup links directly to the original news articles so you can identify sources easily and determine their credibility for yourself. You can follow the company on Twitter @SolarWakeup.

5. Solar Industry Magazine

Solar Industry Magazine is an industry-specific website for solar news in the U.S. and abroad. The company categorizes its solar farm news into sections, including new and noteworthy, projects and contracts, policy watch, people, products and technology, and RFP. You can keep up-to-date with the latest solar news from Solar Industry Magazine by following them @solarindustry.

6. Renewable Energy World

Renewable Energy World began in 1999 thanks to a group of renewable energy professionals who wanted their work to relate to their passion for renewable energy. According to the company, you can find not only news, but solar energy companies, products, and jobs; learn technology basics, and keep up to date on solar energy events. Check out the Solar Energy category on the website if you’re looking for solar farms news.

7. Reputable National & Local Newspapers

While this isn’t a single source, it pays for solar professionals to watch their local news sites as well as keep tabs on national and global news organizations for up-to-date information. Local news sites can alert you to up-and-coming solar projects that haven’t been publicly announced yet; they may be your best bet in finding preconstruction solar projects that still need people to jump on board.
